Development of the wiki articles

After a semester of editing wikipedia articles I am posting this just to kind of give a feel of how the articles have changed since i started editing them.

Emperor's New Groove
I feel that this article was not as complete as the other three edited. This is probably due to the fact that it is a children's movie so not too many people are editing it. My edits focused mainly on the plot of the movie which was not described in a lot of detail. I feel I had a pretty good impact on this article and will hopefully encourage more people to edit it.

The Usual Suspects
This article, compared to Emperor's New Groove was much more complete so therefore much harder to edit. Most of my edits were very minor changes such as word usage or adding a minor detail to the description of the movie. As a whole i dont feel that I contributed a whole lot to this article but made some changes that will make the article better as a whole.

Revenge of the Sith
This article was extremely difficult to edit so I had fun with this one in that I made edits that some may disagree with but i thought were necessary. My first edit was immidiately removed the second one stuck. The third which i feel was a very important fact but may not be well liked in the community has been removed already but hopefully will be put back by someone else.

Metallica
I feel that I had a great impact on this article in that I pushed in my edits to break down the article and have specific paragraphs for each album. At first my edits were deleted immediately, but now they have broken the entire article down by timeline and have different paragraphs for each album. I feel that this article has improved significantly and I am proud of that.

Teammate's Blogs

I reviewed all of my teammate's blogs earlier today and was impressed at how far they have come since the beginning of the year. All of them know how to edit wikipedia articles and how to keep a blog running which will be invaluable in the coming years.

Revenge of the Sith

For my last edit I put in a detail about the star wars series which i feel is very shadowed and that a lot of people dont realize. Because of this I suspect that my comment will be deleted before I am even done this post. I said that Revenge of the Sith really brings the point of the star wars movies home in telling the story of the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker.

Usual Suspects

The Usual Suspects is one of my favorate movies and I love it. My final edit on this page was to update the imdb status of movie. For those who dont know imdb stands for international movie database which is a very good site for seeing trailers for movies and reviews.

Metallica final wiki edit

I edited the Metallica wiki today which has really changed over the last couple of weeks. They have broken down the article into each of their albums and make sort of a timeline. They talk about two songs that the band covered for one of their earlier albums and I commented that these songs were included in a cover album the band later created.

Last wiki for Emperor's New Groove

So for some reason my name on wikipedia is not being recognized so i had to create a new one. It is Kawrestler9. I edited the wiki of The Emperor's New Groove. The article is very vague on the plot and I have tried to add more to that through out the course of the semester. Check it out here.

Definition of marketing

I was reading the Diva Marketing blog and saw a post on the AMA's new definition of marketing. Here are the two definitions: AMA's 2004 Definition- "Marketing is an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communicating and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders."
AMA's 2007 Revised Definition- “Marketing is the activity, conducted by organizations and individuals, that operates through a set of institutions and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging market offerings that have value for customers, clients, marketers, and society at large.”
The second definition is just a proposal and is not definate. I think that the second definition is better because i dont feel that marketers deliver value to a customer. They try to relate the value of their product to the customer's needs.

Privacy Issues

I was reading a post on slashdot.com which talked about the privacy issues that Google is getting into. They already keep track of where you go in order to help personalize searches for you. Now they want to acquire Doubleclick.com which tracks where people go on the internet. The issue is that people sometimes don't want to be tracked when they are perusing the internet. I feel that Google at some point will have to deal with these issues but i dont see that happening for a couple of years.

Emperor's new groove update

I edited the emperor's new groove wiki page today. I added a description of one of the characters to the article. I had a problem with the log in process again it logs me out when i edit sometimes which can be annoying. Anyway here is the ip of the edit i did 64.80.193.209.

Revenge of the Sith Wiki update

I edited the Star Wars revenge of the Sith page regarding some wording that i thought could be improved regarding the plot. This time my edit was not deleted so I believe that they thought my changes were for the best. Once again my edit name is kawrestler8 on wiki so check out my edits if you have time.

Usual Suspects Wiki update

I also edited the Usual Suspects wiki on the 9th and waited to post to see how the community reacted. I added some information towards the plot of the movie and the community seemed to like it as it has not been deleted yet. One more edit to go for this article.

metallica wiki update

I edited the metallica wikipedia article on the 9th of May and decided to wait to see what happened then blog about it. I put some songs in the article that we only listed in tables on the side of the page so that the reader could identify the album with the songs. My edit was removed shortly after saying it was unneeded.

WIki Edit

After running way behind on class work, finishing paper after paper and presentation after presentation i realized how behind i was on my wikipedia edits. So i decided to get my first one for Emperor's New Groove done so that i could be done with my edits before finals week is over. I edited the movie description a little stating that there is adult as well as child humor in the movie which makes it enjoyable for the parent to watch with the child. VT

In class we were given an article about how Virginia Tech students were using blogs and myspace to communicate with loved ones and tell them that they were ok after the tragic shooting. After reading the article it reminded me of an announcement that was put on facebook that asked for all Virginia Tech students to update their status to let their friends know they were alright. This is just another way that students were able to use this new technology to let their friends and family know that they are ok.

Blogs Everywhere

I posted earlier in the year about how the show Scrubs had made a joke about blogging. Well this morning as I went to mlb.com to check the scores of last nights games, the main article on the site is about blogging. The article was titled MLBlogs cheers two years of all things baseball. The article is about a blog that brings fans, hall of famers, authors, and actors/actresses together where all blog together about the sport they love. This is yet another sign that blogging is a growing phenom that gets more and more popular daily.

stiuqxela

My professor asked us to post the word stiuqxela with a link to the packers website as an experiment to see if a link would form between the word stiuqxela and the greenbay packers.

Vanity

One day in class we talked about doing a vanity search to see what comes up about us as this information could be potentially harmful as well as beneficial when it comes to an interview. When i did this search on google, a number of things popped up; first, my blog was number one on the search. Second i was in a non-smoking poster that eventually turned into a bilboard and that is one of the top three articles. The rest of the articles deal with wrestling, and the 5k for J which i believe are positive things. So i think i passed the vanity search trials as none of those embaressing moments have not made it to the web...at least attatched to my name haha.

NCAA Tournament

As i was reading Steve Ward's, one of my classmates, blogs, I saw that he had posted about the NCAA tournament and talked about his predictions for the finals and eventual winner. Unfortunately for me, this year is the first year that i did not get any of the final four right on my bracket. As for who i think will make it to the finals i believe that florida will be too strong for the bruins, and georgetown ill over come ohio state. In the final i think that florida will end up repeating by beating georgetown 78-70.

Viacomm vs Google

I was reading an article from the Modern Marketing blog from the required class list and noticed a post about the viacomm/google lawsuit that is in progress. While i see where viacomm is coming from i believe that google will not be found liable in regards to the charges. The way that the internet laws are written at this point, google has not broken any of the laws. As we discussed in class, this lawsuit may be the beginning of changing these laws to better suit the way the internet has grown over the years. I will be very interested to see how this lawsuit pans out.

Are there concerns of blogging

I was reading an article on one of our required blogs, the Diva Marketing blog, and saw a post which described a place where bloggers could meet. Unfortunately the internet has proven to have some problems concerning younger teenagers. I know that there have been problems with older (usually men) seducing young teens online then asking to meet them places. I was just wondering if this is a problem that has arisen in blogging as well as more and more people get involved in it. Now the following is not meant to imply that this blog is at anyway trying to seduce young teens, i just merely thought of this when i was perusing the blog.

Blogs

Everyday in class we hear and learn how blogs are becoming a big part of daily life. So much so that businesses need to step into the blogging world in order to remain competitive. I think i big sign of something becoming a part of main stream life is if you see it on tv. The other day I was watching a new episode of the show Scrubs, and they made several references to blogging in the show. Now while this is just a comedy show, the fact that they mention blogging means that blogging has become popular enough that the writers of the show feel that people will get a joke about blogging. I realized that blogging actually is becoming more and more present in daily life and that learning about blogs could help me with my future.

Third Wikipedia Edit

I just edited the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith article my third wikipedia article. I edited some of the synopsis of the movie that i felt was an important theme that was not mentioned. In the movie Anakin has premonitions about his wife Padme dying. What i added was that by trying to prevent his wife's death, Anakin ends up causing her death. I seem to be having a problem with my log in with wikipedia though because when i got to do an edit it logs me off and only my ip address is shown on the edit. Once again the ip that i edited under was 64.80.195.205 so check it out.

Second Wikipedia Edit

Today I am feeling a little ambitious so I did two Wikipedia edits. The edit was on the article Metallica which is my favorate metal band. The article talks lots of their albums up a great deal and talks about a lot of the songs on the albums, except for the Black Album. The band's highest selling album has barely a paragraph to it so i added some content about the songs on the album. I hope to add further detail to this article later in the year. First Wikipedia Edit

I just made my first wikidpedia edit today to the article The Usual Suspects. The article gives an overview of the plot and the basic storyline of the movie in some detail. I added a bit of detail to the opening paragraph of the article because it is a very important scene and I thought the detail i added was an important one. Getting the Hang of it

After playing around with the blog template i have finally figured out how to manipulate my blog so i can customize it to my liking. If i didnt say this before i am starting this blog for my BUAD 477 class. I have chosen four articles on Wikipedia that i plan on contributing to througout the semester. They are Metallica, Godsmack, The Usual Suspects, and Seinfeld. I look forward to getting to know the world of blogging.

I want to go back to Australia

hey everyone, my name is Alex Nasseh andthis is my first blog ever and i suppose i will start it off with a little rant. i just recently got back from studying abroad in Australia which was amazing. Coming back was a different story since now i am stuck in 20 degree weather instead of 90 degree weather. Don't get me wrong i love Delaware but Australia is just better. Ok enough ranting for now, i am a jr at the University of Delaware and i am a marketing major. I love to play soccer, wrestle, watch football, and eat. I look forward to my first blog experience.
